The Gandhara literary society facilitates in managing literary activities, like college debates, Mushairas, Quiz Competition as well as Publishes student year book titled "Gandhara Magazine" on since 1995. The issues are distributed to all the universities of pakistan.

LITERARY ACTIVITIES 2009:

24/3/2009, Qira’at, Naat and English/Pushto Poetry Competition: Qari Abdur Rauf Madani was the chief guest for the occasion and he, along with Hafiz Zaffar Hussain gave their judgment for the competitions. In the end, Dr Shahida from KCD presented Naat in her sweet voice.

25/3/2009, Urdu Poetry, Quiz and Bait Baazi competition: Eminent poets and writers, Mr Nasir Ali Sayyed and Mr Mushtaq Shabab were the chief guest and judges for the events. The interesting part of the event was Bait Bazi between staff and students. Mrs Roeeda Kabir, Chancellor Gandhara University, Gave away the prizes.

LAUNCHING CEREMONY OF THE “GANDGARA” MAGAZINE (2nd March’ 09) Mr Athar Shah Khan (Jedi) was the chief guest for the occasion. Programme was attended by a large number of students and guests. The launching ceremony started with recitation from the Holy Quraan by Qari Abdur Rauf Madani and Naat by Miss Fareeha Talaat. The literary Secretary, Miss Sana Ghafoor presented her report. Mr Abaseen Yousaf Zai and Mr Aziz Ejaz gave their comments about the Magazine. The magazine was unveiled by the chief guest, Mr Athar Shah Khan (Jedi). Mr Rashid Khan Tahir Kheli, Vice Chancelor of the University and the Chief Guest addressed the audience. Later on Mushaira was held which was presided by Dr Muhammad Azam Azam. Mr Nasir Ali Sayyed acted as stage secretary in a very interesting way. Mrs Bushra Farrukh, Mushtaq Shabab, Zaffar Ali Zaffar, Aziz Ejaz, Abaseen Yousafzai, Dr Nazir Tabassam, Nasir Ali Sayyed, Akmal Lewanai, Saad Ullah Jan Barq, Muhammad Azam Azam, Athar Shah Khan (Jedi) presented their poetry.

LUMS OLYMPIAD (9TH-13TH March’ 09) The students of Gandhara University attended LUMS Olympiad’s-09 at Lahore from 9th to 13th March, 2009. The team was supervised by Dr Ismail Qamar, Dr Jawad Kundi and Dr Jawad ul Qamar. Final List of the participants for dramatics, Gaming (Tekken), Gaming FIFA, Music, Mind Quest, Photo Essay and Chess was approved by the selction committee comprising of Prof. Shaheed Iqbal, Prof. Mumtaz Ahmad, Mr Ghulam Noorani Sethi, Dr Muhammad Tariq and Dr Ismail Qamar. It was a very pleasant experience for the students to attend the LUMs Olypiad’s. The teams of gaming qualified for the quarter finals while the entire team got second position in scavenger’s hunting.

INTER UNIVERSITY NAAT COMPETITION AT IQRA UNIVERSITY An inter University Naat Competition was held at IQRA University Peshawar on 26th March 2009. Miss Fareeha Talaat of Final Year BDS represented the Gandhara University.
