About Wazir Muhammad Institute of Allied Health Sciences

Wazir Muhammad Institute of Allied Health Sciences is another institute, supported financially through the Gandhara University, Peshawar. The institute provides standard technical education in various categories of Paramedics. It is committed to produce health workers/technician of high competence, who can effectively assist the Medical Professionals thus increasing the skilled manpower in the country. Diploma courses in various disciplines of Paramedical Technologies extended over a period of one to two years, which conform to the requirements of Pakistan Medical Faculty. Students entering these program are required to have a minimum qualification of Higher Secondary School Certificate/ Secondary School Certificate or equivalent. One of the major reason for being unable to provide efficient and effective health care to the communities has been a deficiency of an adequate quantity and quality of human resources at all levels. In view of this, Gandhara University has embarked upon a reform agenda to recognize, restructure and build up the human resource capabilities of all cadres. Along with Doctors and Nurses, Paramedics are an important cadre of health care providers. Gandhara University is well aware of the importance of this cadre and its constraints and issues. So the level of training will be upgraded from diploma to degree level in future.

SCOPE

AIMS & OBJECTIVES

  • To produce trained and qualified Medical Laboratory technologist who will work adequately in any branch of Medical Laboratory Technology.
  • To improve advance knowledge, this can be helpful to them in acquiring special skills at a later stage.
  • To make them full conversant with public Health subjects as Medical Laboratory services are part of the Health team.
  • To help the doctors in their duties and to reduce the burden of work on doctors Medical Practitioners during the treatment of patients. 
  • To develop laboratory technology for the diagnosis, monitoring treatment and providing Laboratory tutors for paramedical training institutions in the country.
