Department of Rheumatology

The department is run by a consultant and MO who look after maltitude of patients either referred from Ortho/medical teams or patient with confirmed rhumatiod disease. The department also relays on the orthopaedic team for operative procedures. The department has a room specified for DMI which are injected once a week.

The Department of Rheumatology at NTH is dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of all patients with diseases of the joints such as Arthritis; bone diseases such as Osteoporosis; soft tissue diseases such as Tendonitis; and autoimmune diseases such as Lupus and Scleroderma.

This is accomplished through a balance of education, research, and clinical care of patients with various rheumatic disorders. The department is in close leasion with Orthopaedics, physiotherapy and orthotropics. The Department of Rheumatology provides a referral service and ongoing treatment facility for patients with arthritis-related disease supported by both medical, nursing and rehabilitation staff. This is a very busy out-patient department.
